What type of title is that for an artist’s blog? It’s exciting news and I will try my best to briefly let you know what’s going on with my artwork and events. (more details at the end of the blog for websites and hours etc)
C is for Cows-this stands for the Lake Metroparks Farmpark. Yes, you can see cows (even milk them), sheep, horses and more there but also over 100 pieces of art by local artists. I invited 13 artists to join me in this exhibit. It’s our interpretation of nature in the medium we work in-and it’s a large variety of styles. It’s a wonderful show and I encourage you to go see and support the local talent as most of the pieces are for sale.” Through Our Eyes-Expressions of Nature”. (runs through Mid-September)
“The artist and the photographer seek the mysteries and the adventure of experience in nature.” Ansel Adams.
C for Canopy Walk- Did you know there is a canopy walk and tower at Holden Arboretum in Kirtland? It’s an amazing place and a wonderful place to view nature. Last winter I was invited to have a solo show and it’s going on now from July – August. You can see it in the main building. Original paintings, prints and boxed note cards are available for purchase. The show is “Expressions of Nature Etc.”
C for Cable TV- I was thrilled to be interviewed for a show called “Artist at Work”. It’s about 30 minutes long, with lots of paintings shown and questions answered-a brief recap of my story too! Grab a cup of coffee or tea and sit down and relax. Here is the link to watch it on cable on demand. https://cable9.viebit.com/#fQD1FADxXYLY
In looking for quotes regarding nature I found this one rang true for me. George Washington Carver said, “I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.”
My business cards have “Painting with Passion and Purpose” on them. I am excited that I have these three wonderful opportunities this summer and I am looking forward to the next art show coming up. Art was not in my dreams five years ago- I hadn’t considered it- I didn’t know what was inside me yet to come out. I am learning new things with each painting, each show, each marketing strategy. The passion is there, and the purpose to financially contribute to Help Save the Kids is always there too as their needs continue to grow. They are currently working on building/dorm 2 and hopefully soon will be able to have all the students on the same property, where they also farm and have other sustainable living projects underway. I am always so happy to see what the children are learning and how they are helping others too.
I leave you with a final quote and the hope that you will be able to find beauty where you have not found it before. I know my eyes have been opened. Feel free to share this blog around, share the interview link and tell others about what I do and why. Thanks for being a part of my art adventure-you are an important part of it! Julie
If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.
