I’ve been meaning to write this blog for some time, but honestly it has been a struggle. My blog is a place to let you know where you can see my art, and what new things are happening with Help Save the Kids in Thailand, but it’s also to share some of what I’m thinking and to know a little bit more about me.
First things first- I had great feedback from the visitors that saw my art at the Holden Arboretum and it was an honor to be in their visitors center for 2 months this summer. I was also honored to be part of a group of artists that were set up outside near Playhouse Square in Downtown Cleveland during the Sparx City Hop. I enjoyed my time there and the weather cooperated!
The Akron Art Prize accepted one of my paintings and you can view it and a couple hundred other pieces of art at the Summit Art Space in Akron. Here is the link that tells you all about it and also where you can see the artwork and bios of the artists too. http://akronartprize.org/
I have over 50 pieces of art at the Fairmount Center for the Arts in Novelty Ohio. Where is Novelty? About a 5-minute drive south of Chesterland. Here is the link to the center. http://www.fairmountcenter.org/news.php The art is up through October 17th. There is a reception this Saturday the 24th from 4-7 and they asked me to do a gallery talk so if anyone is interested in asking me questions or finding out about my art you can come at 4:30. I’d love to see you there or hear that you stopped in.
In Thailand building #3 is going up and there is a lot of excitement of new and great things there. I urge you to check that out. Help Save the Kids– http://helpsavethekids.org/index/ is just one of the pages to view. Check them out on Facebook to get the most up to date news!

The Battle amongst the Beauty
Many of you know through Facebook and through word of mouth etc. that I was diagnosed with breast cancer in the middle of July. It was quite a surprise to everyone-and life has changed quite a bit and will probably change some more around here. But it’s one day at a time. My daughter Kelly flew home to be with me during all the stack of doctor appointments and I was able to have the surgery before she needed to fly home. It was a blessing to have her home and we had good times. The recovery from surgery was quick and I have had one treatment of the chemo that went well, with more to follow. I have an amazing group of people, some I don’t even know supporting me through this with prayers, well wishes, and encouraging words that seem to come at just the moment I need to hear one. I believe in and appreciate every prayer, every word, every form of kindness that has come my way. And it has taught me that even a simple gesture can be so appreciated and so I am trying to do likewise. The whirlwind of appointments seems to have stopped so I am hoping to get back to my artwork very soon.
I love the fall in Ohio
This was our year and area for the 17-year cicadas and they did a lot of damage to the trees all around that show their vibrant colors. Part of their beauty will be masked by the not so lovely brown leaves that have been on many of the trees since summer. BUT, the trees will be beautiful in several weeks-all we have to do is look beyond the “brown damage” and see the beauty and glorious colors. That’s what I intend to do- How about you?
