This is a Learning Curve

9.21.2022

I am sitting at the computer in my office and trying to work on the new website. I was going to try and upload all my older blogs but decided to write this instead. Many of my older blogs were talking about where you could find me in an art show so since those are passed, I figured I would add a recent blog. At some point in time, I’ll see about adding the older posts and then trying to put them in order.  I am a bit computer challenged so I’m also pretty sure I won’t be working on the website for more than an hour.

I decided I needed a simpler website that I could handle more or less on my own and so I’m trying this. It was a perfect time as the fees for my previous hosting site were due in a couple of weeks.

I’m pretty sure this will be a process and may change several times in the next few months or so as I define in my own mind what I want the site to look like and then refine it while learning how to do so. It’s going to be a challenge for me and I although I probably should have started this change in the summer I think spending the time outside while the weather was amazing was a better choice. (The weather is still amazing, and the colors will be spectacular in a few weeks, but I’ll have more time as there will be less gardening and such to do)

Angel Tree Triptych-commission

I recently finished a commissioned tree triptych and installed it at the customer’s home. It was a birthday surprise and I heard he loves the painting. They both do! That gives me a good feeling because commissions are often scary to work on.

Earlier this summer I was busy creating the Vacation Bible School set for the church I attend. It was a big project and that was finished just in time as my daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter were visiting from Thailand for several weeks. That was a great time, although the only artwork I did during those weeks was making playdough flowers, drawing, and painting with my granddaughter who is 3.  My time was well spent with family, and I loved it.

Here are a few photos of the set for VBS. I made the structures out of blocks of Styrofoam and carved and painted them.

I’ll keep working on the website in between art and life here in NE Ohio. Check back with me in a bit and see what’s new!

Thanks,

Julie
